Volunteer Week 2024: Celebrating Thousands of Ontarians Supporting Children, Youth, and Families

Volunteers play a critical role in supporting children, youth, and families receiving child welfare services in Ontario.

Each year, thousands of individuals offer their time, skills, resources, and energy to support the well-being of children, youth, and families across the province. Together, they contribute hundreds of thousands of hours in roles such as drivers, mentors, tutors, special event organizers, and board members.

“The commitment, dedication, and support of every volunteer in the Ontario child welfare sector is truly appreciated,” said Solomon Owoo, Interim CEO of OACAS. “Volunteers support the well-being of children, youth, and families through everyday moments. By sharing their time, talents, and care, they strengthen our communities.”

Volunteers often get to know the children and youth they work with and form an integral part of the service team working to ensure their well-being and success. This National Volunteer Week, OACAS recognizes and celebrates the volunteers that care for the children, youth, and families in their communities through child welfare. We are grateful for all that they do.
