OACAS to Host First-of-its-kind 2SLGBTQ+ Event for Youth in Child Welfare

On Saturday, February 25, 2023, OACAS will host Ontario’s first ever 2SLGBTQ+ youth symposium specifically for young people aged 12+ who are involved in the child welfare system. Q-munity Youth Symposium: Finding Pride in Community is an opportunity for 2SLGBTQ+ children & youth involved with the child welfare system to be empowered, engage with one another, and celebrate culture and community.

This year’s event will take place virtually on Zoom and is totally free of charge. Participants who register before February 10 will be sent a swag bag with lots of exciting goodies. The line-up of speakers and entertainers includes musical artist J3M, yoga and meditation instructor Salimah Kassim-Lakha from YogaVision, and Tatiana Ferguson, co-founder and managing director of the Black Queer Youth Collective, who will facilitate the event.
