We are pleased with the Auditor General’s follow-up assessment as there was an unusually short period of time given to Societies to make these changes. As noted by Mr. McCarter, some recommendations need more time to be fully implemented and others depend on further work with the Ministry of Children and Youth Services.
The child welfare field is in constant evolution and employs professionally trained staff who use clinical judgment, expertise and tools based on research and more than 100 years of experience to help children in need of protection, guidance or nurturing. Our member agencies welcome the opportunity to demonstrate their commitment to ensure children, youth and families in Ontario are safe, happy and healthy.
