Product Licences

OACAS holds several key licenses that inform its training program:

  • The Ontario license for Parent Resources for Information, Development and Education (PRIDE) from the Child Welfare League of America (CWLA) for the mandatory pre-service training program for foster, adoptive, kin and customary care families in both the public and private sectors.

  • The Ontario license for the PRIDE In-service training program from CWLA – classroom version

  • The Ontario license for the PRIDE Digital Curriculum version of the In-service program from Governors State University, which moved the classroom content into state-of-the-art digital format in partnership with CWLA

  • The Canadian license for Looking After Children (LAC) from her Majesty’s Stationary Office in England, mandatory for use by all Ontario CASs and their residential service providers in assessing the needs and developmental progress of children in the care of CASs.

  • The Ontario license for SAFE (Structured Assessment Family Evaluation) from Consortium for Children in California (CFC), now mandatory for use in assessing prospective foster, kin, customary care and adoptive families as caregivers by both public and private sector agencies

OACAS is licensed to deliver training curricula related to the above licenses, and in addition, has developed and/or owns and delivers curricula especially designed for New Workers in Children’s Aid Societies (20-22 days of training designed to address the minimum competencies required for beginning frontline practice in a CAS).

  • More experienced Workers in Children’s Aid Societies  (deepening knowledge and skills in specific areas)

  • Managers and Supervisors (a core series for new supervisors or managers plus more specialized child welfare modules)

  • CASs and Violence Against Women (VAW) sector staff (a CAS/VAW Collaboration Training module)

  • CASs and Private Sector Trainers (presentation/facilitation skills and specific course content).
